College Credit
Card Debt
Amount Owed by Grade Level
Seniors have the highest amount of debt at $1,742 and freshmen
have the least average amount of debt with $1,183. Several individuals
would tend to assume that freshmen would hold the highest amount
of average debt because they are more irresponsible than all other
grade levels. In addition, they are not prepared to assume the responsibility
of using a credit card and managing its debt. Also, by referring
to the chart below, one might think that seniors owe so much because
they do not know how to manage their budget and expense their money
on unnecessary items. A possible reason why seniors owe a greater
amount is largely because they have had more time to accumulate
credit cards, therefore, larger debt.
